Participant04/22/2020 at 1:59 pm #15523WOOOOOO! Hell Yeah! That’s what I’m talking about! That’s a big, fast-twitch, physical, game-wrecking D-Tackle pickup to spark some momentum! Great job Coach Malloe coming through in the clutch! This kid is so underrated it’s insane. Obviously UW has been his dream school from the jump. Others like USC and Oregon never even offered because they knew he was ALL DAWG and they didn’t want to take an L. This kid hasn’t even visited UW or any mainland schools yet. If an elite kid like this is ALL DAWG without ever stepping foot on campus and wants to leave paradise on Earth for Washington, you gotta think that makes a few in-state kids think twice about leaving. UW is quickly becoming a HOT school for Hawaiian recruits thanks to Coach Malloe’s connections and reputation in Hawaii. Huge pickup! Finally some positive news. We needed this. Welcome Kuao Peihopa! The next great Poly D-tackle to play for the DAWGS! #BOWDOWN
Now let’s keep it rolling! Perhaps Wynden Ho’ohuli and Logan Fano could be closed this Spring as well as I believe UW is the leader for both of them.

How does he compare to the DL we picked up in the ’18 and ’19 classes?

Participant04/22/2020 at 2:10 pm #15525We also got a crystal ball from Blair Angulo for Voi Tunuufi, another explosive, fast-twitch, and violent D-tackle out of Utah and East high school, the same school that produced Taki Taimani and Jordan Lolohea. Malloe is doing work right now and putting the team on his back. Happy Aloha Wednesday everybody!

He’s up there with the best of them. His frame and film remind me of a guy we desperately wanted, but didn’t get in the 2018 class, Tommy Togiai. It’s a big steal for UW. He’s been a Dawg since he got the offer. If he was open to all schools interested in him and able to take visits right now, he would have committable offers from any and every school in the country he wants an offer from. Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, Clemson, USC, Oregon you name it. He could go anywhere. High 4-star talent IMO. Pretty amazing and fortunate that both he and Paama pretty much fell in our laps without much of a fight from other schools. That’s what can happen when you have a strong tradition of Polynesian players and you put guys in the league.

Nice. Get Voi, JTT, and maybe one more and call it good for the DL.

1. He’s been on campus before. He visited for the apple cup
2. USC and Oregon didn’t offer him because they didn’t want to take an L. Just a ridiculous statement. -

1. He’s been on campus before. He visited for the apple cup
2. USC and Oregon didn’t offer him because they didn’t want to take an L. Just a ridiculous statement.1. True, he was on campus for an unofficial before. I remember him saying he’d never been to the mainland before in a previous interview but it must have been an older interview before the Apple Cup. He has not officially visited anywhere and was pretty much ready to commit to UW after his first visit similar to Sama Paama. Point stands. Hawaii kids love Washington and are a perfect fit for the program. Kids from Washington to take notice of that and realize they’re from a pretty cool place compared to a place like Ohio.
2. Explain to me how a 6’3 300 pound D-tackle prospect with elite explosive get off and athleticism who’s from Hawaii doesn’t get an offer from USC or Oregon unless they already know he’s a UW lock behind the scenes and would rather not take another public loss to UW on the recruiting trail. That’s the only possible reason to explain them not offering because he’s an elite West coast prospect at a premium position. Like the kid said in his interview, UW has been his dream school since he was in the 9th grade.
3. You have been extra bitchy lately. Is it that time of the month for you? Even when we get a stud commit like this you still find a way to be negative and choose to believe Oregon and USC wouldn’t take this kid in a heart beat if he was actually interested in them which is laughable. He’d instantly be the most talented D-tackle on Oregon’s entire roster and he’s the type of recruit who historically goes to USC instead of UW. Big-time get for UW. Maybe go take a walk for perspective so you can stop being a cranky little bitch and lighten up Francis.

Participant04/22/2020 at 9:10 pm #15532Have a feeling our recruiting will take a small step back this year anyways. Unproven head coach and how do you shirk off an 8 win season where you looked dysfunctional in multiple spots? Offense hasn’t been effective since 2011. Surprised we even get the receiving talent we do lately.
We need a season (obviously) and we need some wins to get the fanbase fired up. The one win against SC and then beating up on some shitty teams was a buzz kill.

I’m not seeing any signs of a dip in recruiting in comparison to the classes they’ve been bringing in the last couple years. Guys like Peihopa, Tunuufi, Fano, Heims, and others high on UW’s board are underrated at this time but are easily 4-star talents and have UW at the top of their list along with other guys who are rated 4 and 5 stars.
The offense broke school records in 2016. It hasn’t been that long since they were really good. Yeah losing games sucked last season and no doubt has been a recruiting buzz kill but how you lose during a down year matters to recruits as well. They never got blown out and were competitive in every game and clearly capable of beating anybody on their schedule even when they sucked. If 8-5 is the floor of the program, that’s not a bad program to join. USC went 5-7 a couple years ago. Oregon has gone 4-8 and 7-6 recently. UW still looks like a more stable option.

Participant04/23/2020 at 1:17 pm #15534Jimmy is not the brand the Pete was. Kids came for the Pete brand.
Didn’t hire established recruiters and the OC hire has put every offensive recruit in wait and see mode.
Lake is betting on himself and “NFL experience,” and that’s it.

Well it’s a good thing he gets to start his career working with a stacked roster. Talent wins.
Offensive recruits would have been in wait and see mode no matter who he hired at OC.

If they hired an established OC like Kellen Moore or Joe Moorehead you would see far less skepticism from recruits and you would see more offensive commits. Donovan has a very unimpressive resume and is not a good recruiter so your seeing a lot of offensive recruits especially wide receivers have skepticism about Washington and there offense. Also hurts that there is no spring ball or visits so recruits can’t see the offense in person and sit in the film room with the coaches.

Keymaster04/24/2020 at 1:53 am #15545We need to be selling Sam Huard & the offensive class, particularly the OL.
When I get a chance I want to look at OL recruiting and see where that class would rank by position.

Fact he kept Bob Gregory and KB is very telling in a bad way. Was hoping Lake was this cut throat win coach but fact he’s keep those two dead weight guys isn’t good.
Look at the LB’s drafted his weekend then remember we started Kyler Manu at LB. Look at the WR’s drafted and remember we started Baccelia and Fuller all year.
Even RB, KB in 6 years has produced only one draft pick and he went 7th round. He isn’t bringing in blue chip talent at RB either unless it happens to be in back yard.
I don’t get why UW insist on delaying the inevitable on these guys. We all know Gregory and KB will be gone so why have lame duck coaches on staff who don’t develop talent or recruit well?

Keeping the dead weight may have been a financial priority since AD probably projecting lower revenues bc of shitty home schedule. Jimmy needs to cut bait tho.
