.UW basketball loses to Arizona 80-53 dropping to 1-7 and 0-3 in conference play.
So who wins more conference games this school year? UW football who went 3-1 in conference play or UW men’s basketball who will play 20 conference games?
I’m voting football. This is the worst mens basketball team I’ve ever seen at UW. There is no future NBA guys on this roster.
I love Hop as a human being but it’s time to go in a different direction at head coach. UW basketball needs a total rebuild. I haven’t watched a single game so far this season and I don’t plan on watching any.

I might give Hop another year, just because I like him and the first two years were solid. His 5th year has to show major improvement.
UW basketball is easy to recruit to, as Romar showed, so this is just unacceptable.
He should be fired before the end of this season
The fact we couldn’t win with the amount of talent on the team last year makes me believe that the issue was coaching. It’s also going to be very difficult for him to pull in more highly rated guys after a season like that. I like hop as a person too but I think he’s flamed out here and the program needs some nee life. A season like we are having this year should be unacceptable.

Don’t think you can afford to keep Hop at this point. In year three with all his guys he finished last place in conference. Then in year four again with all his guys this might be the worst UW basketball team in program history.
Much like when Sark inherited the 0-12 program but actually wasn’t a true 0-12 program(had like 13 guys play in the NFL) , Hop likely got too much credit for his first year here. No many coaches inherit a 2-16 program who have juniors like Thybulle, Dickerson, Crisp, Green and Nowell coming into your program. That wasn’t a true 2-16 team is what I’m getting at. Then Hop benefitted from one of the worst years in conference history and won the regular season title.
I can’t recall a coach whose stock fell so hard so quickly like Hop has. I loved Hop, after winning the conference title then bringing in J-Mac and Stewart I was all in on him. Then during last year I was posting on twitter and in here how Hop should be fired.
At some point this needs to fall on Jen Cohen too. Her two head coaching hires of Women’s Basketball and Men’s Basketball have been disasters. Both programs are their lowest point in program history.
Hop has one recruit coming in next year, and based on what is returning on this roster, they will be at or near the bottom of the Pac-12 for 3rd straight year.
If we had the booster(s) the team down south has, they would let the AD know the money was there (ala after 70-21) to make a change and I hope Jen would make the right business decision as she did with Romar.
I like Hopkins, but there is something really wrong inside the program, and even though he is going to blow out some assistants to try and right the ship, it is really just a matter of WHEN he is replaced not IF
This looks like Sumlin at Arizona where he was dead man walking. That’s where UW Men’s BB is at.
I just don’t see how Jen can justify firing Romar(was the correct move by the way) who is an alum, had won the conference five times and more importantly had the top ranked recruiting class in the entire country coming in with the top ranked player overall coming in as well.
Then four years later retain Hopkins who will have back to back last place finishes and nothing in recruiting two straight years. He has flat out given up on recruiting after that one class which was top 10 mainly due to two one and dones.
The next hire UW makes has to have West Coast connections. Specifically this coach has to be able to recruit Seattle.
Hopkins failures right out the gate was losing Davis to Stanford. It was downhill from there regarding local recruiting.
We saw two guys drafted in the NBA draft who were from this state that Hop didn’t have the eye for talent to recruit.
