Participant09/24/2020 at 9:39 pm #19670If they wanted to come back, they’d need the NCAA to give them an exception from the rule that says college players can’t sign with an agent and then play college football after that. They’d also have to have an agent that is willing to mutually break their contract.
However, neither of those guys appear to want to come back so it doesn’t matter.

Read that and if it was truly 7-5 to play I don’t think the Pac-12 would be playing a season.
No way are you moving 5 Univ. Presidents who had the same no play stance. The safety in numbers for those 5 would have held out enough so an agreement wouldn’t have happened.

Im sure it’s true. I’m sure the initial vote was to start 10/31, to which those 5 schools voted to not play. Only reason I posted that here was to see what y’all thought. There was consensus amongst doog fans that Cristobal was the coach that had a quite a few weeks back that sounding very pro not playing. The coach with the most to lose/gain is Lake. He knows with a bad season or even a sub par season it will set him back. He is in way over his head and it’s pretty obvious.

That’s what you hope.
Good thing Jimmy has the most talented team.

Participant09/25/2020 at 8:44 pm #19693Wouldn’t surprise me at all if our virtue signaling, libtard, bull dyke president voted against playing the season. I think this conference is fucked as long as university presidents are the decision makers because most of them couldn’t care less about football. The fact Larry Scott still has a job should tell you how little these presidents give a fuck. The athletic directors should be in charge. Let the people who’s job it is to deal with sports make the sports related decisions and keep the retards in charge of the academic side of things out of it.
Oregon fans actually think Jimmy Lake and Jen Cohen had a vote and voted not to play. Fuck they’re dumb. Unfortunately for Oregon, the games will be played and they have to play UW which is not going to be a favorable match up for them to say the least.

Participant09/25/2020 at 8:52 pm #19695Cristobal was hoping the season would be cancelled because he knows his team isn’t what they were last season and they’re gonna get exposed. Just thank your lucky stars @DubsDown Oregon doesn’t have to play Ohio State and get their assholes blown out on national television.

Participant09/25/2020 at 9:35 pm #19698Is it possible to have a discussion about football without being homers or delusional? I’m open to discuss football if you can actually be open minded and realistic.
Cristobal has been the most vocal pac-12 coach about playing, so doubt he truly didn’t want to play. That’s my opinion, based on what’s been reported.
I didn’t feel great about Oregon’s chances against OSU, given all the new starters. On paper, Oregon’s oline got bigger and stronger. Qb is a negative until he proves it in game. I do feel Oregon is the favorite in the conference, as the defense should see no regress from last season, will most likely be better.
But, like I said, I’m open to having a true open conversation.

Keymaster09/25/2020 at 10:58 pm #19701The implication that Lake wouldn’t want a season is way off. He needs it more than anyone considering recruits have questions about the offense and the program in general.
The good news for Lake is he has the most blue chips on his roster. But he needs a fast start after poor recruiting so far.

Oregon is a paper tiger. They lost way too many guys and weren’t all that good last season to begin with. They’ll be less athletic on O-line. Oregon’s defense was nothing impressive last season so I don’t know why you think they’ll be good this season. UW’s defense was hot garbage by our standards and still the #3 scoring defense in the conference. That tells you how low the bar was for the conference defensively. Oregon’s defense gave up 31 points to an anemic UW offense and I watched Wisconsin dominate them with the worst passing attack in Power-5 football.
UW in 2019 was the worst they’ve been in four years. Stanford has been up and down for years now. USC is USC. Who did y’all beat? All Oregon fans ever said in 2016 and 2018 was how weak the Pac-12 is because UW won the conference those years. Well, it was even weaker in 2019. Oregon managed to line up their most talented and veteran team since 2014 against UW’s worst team since 2015 and still barely beat UW. Congrats. Stop puffing your chests out. Oregon isn’t shit, your recruit rankings are a sham, and Oregon will never win a national title in the sport of football. Get over it.

Participant09/26/2020 at 7:28 am #19704Again, Oregon fans are obsessed with an 8-5 team after acting like UW’s 2016-18 teams were trash.
What kind of fanbase acts like a completely freshman and unproven offense makes them a lock to win the conference this year?
They think their defense last year was on a level of 16-18 UW after just getting blasted by the likes of UW and ASU, two bad offenses. Not to mention what Washington State did to them.
They act like there’s no difference between UWs rose bowl opponent and theirs, which is laughable considering tOSU destroys them every time they meet.
And they needed their rose bowl opponent, who controlled them most of the game, to put the ball on the ground to win that game.

Heading into the season I gave Oregon a slight advantage over UW due to home field and their confidence. (They’ve been excellent in close games the past 2 years).
With the player defections, my guess is Oregon’s D will be better than UW. But Sewell is such a huge loss that the player defections overall hurt Oregon more.
There might be 4-5 teams that legitimately could win the league in this bizarre season.

Participant09/26/2020 at 9:36 pm #19716Their ENTIRE starting O-line from last season, including the best offensive lineman they’ve ever had and alpha of their offense, is GONE. Their 1st-round QB is GONE. Their starting MLB, emotional leader, and alpha of their defense is GONE. One of their starting corners is GONE. Now their best DB overall and starting safety is GONE. After losing all of those guys, Oregon fans still think their team should be considered the favorite in the Pac-12. Whatever they’re smoking down there in bum fuck Oregon, I want some. We’re gonna find out if Cristobal can actually coach or not and spoiler alert…I don’t think he can.
Levi and Tryon opting out definitely hurt UW’s defense and I don’t think any individual players will be able to replace those guys. The talent is there but they have to prove it. Josiah, Tuli, Taki, and Laiatu have to step the fuck up. But if those are the only guys UW is going to lose, there’s no doubt in my mind UW should be considered the favorite in the North.

Participant09/26/2020 at 9:43 pm #19717My mistake, Oregon lost both of their starting corners in Lenior and Graham to go along with Holland. It’s hard to keep up when I barely pay attention to them. Their secondary looks pretty decimated. But those recruiting “star rankings” still got them thinking Oregon is a top-10 team and playoff contenders LMAO.

Participant09/26/2020 at 9:45 pm #19718Sounds like there are a few more Oregon players potentially opting out but “waiting on the edits”. This is from dawgman who apparently heard this from the Oregon Mod

Participant09/26/2020 at 9:56 pm #19719Just read Matt Prehm said Oregon still has more news coming down the pipe of guys opting out and that they’re just waiting on edits haha. I’d guess CJ Verdell and Jordan Scott. It’s a mass exodus down there in Eugene. I could see Oregon going Owen-7. Hope we have room for Troy Franklin if he decides to flip after watching them play. All that “natty” hype they’ve been selling recruits is about get deflated.
