Participant02/12/2021 at 11:44 pm #23418Why is this interesting? Shough is an FCS-level quarterback playing in the Pac 12 because of some fortunate circumstances. He makes the conference look bad being a starter for one of the better programs. Hopefully, the year they wasted on him was also spent developing better options.
Meanwhile, the Huskies are hopefully about to enter a new era with Huard at the helm. Lets hear more about him, and less about Oregon players.

It’s interesting because the team UW most needs to beat every year is Oregon. No other conference opponent comes close both in terms of the Pac-12 title race and recruiting. Therefore, bad news at Oregon is good news for UW.
Also, Morris is the guy. Huard will be on the bench for a couple years watching and learning.

Participant02/13/2021 at 10:05 am #23420But I agree, the board shouldn’t be flooded with a bunch of Oregon related threads. Laughing at their expense in one thread is preferred.

Participant02/13/2021 at 10:48 am #23421Tyler Shough leaving is not bad news for Oregon. He wasn’t going to start going forward, which is why he is taking his three years of eligibility to another school.
I would prefer to see UW raise their own bar, rather than other teams lower theirs. The conference as a whole needs to improve their stock so that these homegrown recruits want to stay home. The Pac used to be known for its quarterbacks, and starting QB’s like Shough isn’t going to help that image. The jury is still out on Morris, but I hope Huard isn’t sitting the next two years.

It is bad news for them. How much time did they waste investing in him that they could have been investing in someone else? Mario named him the starting QB last Spring without a real competition. The fact that he turned out to suck so bad is very bad news for them because obviously, they don’t have anybody better. Anthony Brown is not good either. So now they’re back at ground zero again at the QV position while UW has a budding star in Dylan Morris who’s a baller. That’s good news.
UW is raising their own bar. But our competition lowering theirs at the same time only widens the gap and makes it easier for UW to get back to the playoffs.
