Looks like Coach K is going to be the DC, I want to know if Lake will be calling the defense or not, that’s a big question for the press conference tomorrow.
K staying is MASSIVE MASSIVE MASSIVE!
Go get Gerald Alexander ASAP!

GA wasn’t going to be hired as the 10th coach.
Need to get rid of Gregory ASAP to get GA.
The GA dream is over. We aren’t going to add a 3rd DB coach to the staff.
He could be a LB coach and made co-DC.
Definitely no GA. I don’t know anything about this guy, so he may be great, but this is a big fucking red flag for me. Seems like a small-time move.
PJ Lake is dead.
Seems like they made a hire at a discounted price to save $$$ for a big time move at OC and on the offensive side of the ball!
We already have an A plus DC in Kwaitowski. Who might even be a better play caller than Lake. Lake was by far the more superior recruiter and DB coach

This makes sense. Keep the teachings of Jimmy going with a guy he trusts and is familiar with the defense.
No OC updates? I mean, I see Kim posted something new but I’m kinda scared to find out what he said lol.
If Rhett Lashlee is the #1 choice how much longer is he gonna wait for Jimmy to pull the trigger? Worried Oregon or another program will swoop in and get him and then who are we left with? Especially if Moore stays with Dallas after all or would rather look for another gig in the pros than go to college. I don’t think Monken is a realistic option for UW, just my opinion…
I hope we are in a tit for tat situation with Monken or their OC instead of being in a tit for tat with Jerry Jones and his OC Kellen Moore. Our offense hangs in the balance. https://twitter.com/brett_mcmurphy/status/1212192859299840002?s=21
Not a fan of the hire. Really wanted a DB coach with LA ties which Terrance doesn’t have. While he’s from LA, he’s only been a coach for two years and that was at Vanderbilt where he didn’t recruit California at all so he comes with no preexisting relationships from LA. He’s also inexperienced and now between Will and Brown, we have two inexperienced coaches coaching DB’s which isn’t a great combo. While Oregon has Hayward/Donte recruiting LA we will have Terrence/Will, that’s not a good.
When do you guys expect to Jimmy’s staff to be finalized?
When do you guys expect to Jimmy’s staff to be finalized?
Maybe in a week or two.
Perhaps Jimmy is waiting to hire an OC and the other changes will flow from that, depending on what they have to pay the OC.
Lots of buzz that Monken is headed back to Stillwater.

I also think that if Rhett is an option we should pull the trigger. Someone tweeted earlier about Monken going back to Ok. St. Can’t afford to lose Lashlee.
IMO they need to lock down Rhett ASAP. If we keep him on the hook too long and wiff with anyone else, there is a chance we won’t have any other solid options.
Growing g a bit impatient with the timeline of the OC hire. Trying to remember that Jimmy needs to get it right and if it takes longer that’s ok. Really surprised we haven’t heard a list of people who have interviewed by now though.
Don’t fuck this up Jimmy. Our window is tight, and hinges on pulling off the 2021 class perfectly. Mess that up and you can basically throw out any chance of us winning a NC.
I don’t have any specific new information, but Dennis and I were just chatting and it certainly *feels* like we are slouching towards a very uninspiring conclusion to assembling Jimmy’s first staff:
* Got TB (who seems like a good enough coach) when we wanted Gerald Alexander.
* KB and Gregory are still employed by UW to coach football.
* Things have gone quiet on the OC front. Still worried that it will be Moore.
* Have heard nothing on the TE position coach search.
This makes us worry that Jimmy is going to take the path of least resistance, which would be hiring people that he or Pete have clear connections with. And that list of names is both unexciting (or downright worrisome) on their own merits and would further brand our program as P5 Boise State, which is something we ought to be going away from as quickly as possible. Leaving KB and Gregory in their roles would also be a strong indication that Jimmy either doesn’t know those guys can’t cut it or can’t bring himself to make those changes. Neither is good.
I certainly hope we are wrong and that things have gone dark because he is putting some spectacular hires together under total information lockdown. But that feels like wishful thinking.
In the real world with working class stiffs you see people get fired that may not be able to buy their children Christmas gifts or put good food on the table.
These coaches aren’t starving. Paopao and Hamdan got picked up in 2 weeks. I think Gregory is going to get a year. The play of the Linebackers corps is going to determine whether he’s employed by UW in 2021.
If we don’t get an OC that can sit in the home of say a Troy Franklin or Emeka Egbuku and drool with excitement over having these guys in his offense and articulate this excitement to the PSA then we’ve failed when we didn’t have to.
KB being on staff is whatever, I won’t be greatly upset that he stays and I would be happy if he left. But I’m not going to die on that hill.
Gregory however, is a different story. IMO, his recruiting malfeasance directly resulted in losses this season. Just complete malpractice on his part. And even if you want to say, “well he lost Kaho in a weird way and Eifler transferred” what does it matter, it is on him. And then, add on top of that with all those issues he absolutely bombed this year on the recruiting front AGAIN. It is a massive issue for us and if he stays on staff it’s not a great sign for Lake as to building a staff.
(I didn’t even mention how horrific our special teams were in 2018, and it’s not like we lit the world on fire in 2019 either)

Coker:
My main thing is that if BOTH KB and Gregory stay, that is really worrisome.
It just says that either Jimmy doesn’t know they can’t cut it at the elite level, or he doesn’t care, because really being elite isn’t the main motivator. Or he knows, but doesn’t have the heart (or stroke) to do something about it.
None of those are good answers.

Gregory not getting fired immediatly after the season is so shocking and upsetting I can hardly handle it. I really thought Jimmy was going to be cut-throat and aggressive with his coaching moves. It wouldn’t shock me if they are waiting to let him find a job and move on, kind of like what happened with Strausser.
To the doogs who like to defend him with the Kaho, Eifler, and Tootoo excuses… don’t you think it’s weird that all this shit seems to happen ONLY to him? It happened once to Malloe and he fucked USC up the next two years. Where the hell has that been from Bob? Cooper McDonald and Carson Bruener? Are you KIDDING ME?! WE LOST HERBIG TO FUCKING WISCONSIN!!!
I can’t think about BG and not be thrown into a blind rage.

According to the SMU 247 guy, Miami and Missouri were interested in speaking with Rhett as well and he turned down the Arkansas OC job where he has ties. Bush just got a job at Missouri (still not sure if he was hired as OC?) so curious if Rhett has turned everyone down or Jimmy may have passed?
