First of all, big thanks to coach Pete for making our program matter again. In the Sark era fans accepted 7-5 while this year we were pissed. That was due to the standard he set. Winning two conference titles, three straight NY6 bowls and of course a playoff appearance in 2016.
This year in watching there was an obvious disconnect from Petersen and this current group. Good on his part to recognize that though. Also think he knows there is massive changes that need to be done. At age 55 I don’t blame him for not wanting to do that. Needs a new offense, likely has to fire people he’s close to with Bush Hamden and Bob Gregory. He goes back 20 years with these guys. Also it’s tough to re-invent your offense when you only know one way to do things.
What I’m hoping for from Lake? same built for life program(Pete is sticking around to still run that) but also recruit LA more. Hopefully Lake ditches that idiotic recruiting lowly rated 3 stars from Texas idea.
I hope Lake grows as a coach too. As a DC he didn’t really adjust as the game went on. I think Lake should help in recruiting and I do like that Lake isn’t afraid to play young talent. Hopefully that becomes a norm in our program going forward.
Thanks for everything coach Pete and I’m excited for the Lake era!
