Pete quit because he needed to recharge and his heart wasn’t in it. He lamented the fact there is no time in CFB to take anytime off.
As soon as that happened, the UW brand plummeted and recruiting as well.
Recruiting is an issue but at least Jimmy injected passion and enthusiasm back into the players. They showed a grit that was lacking under Pete.
He needs back to back double digit win seasons to elevate recruiting again.
But had Pete decided to coach for a few more years or give it another try, he would have gotten to recharge- because of the pandemic.
It would have been perfect for Pete & Built for Life.
No media, no fans. A full year of life coaching.
And he would have been able to recharge at the same time.
10 years from now we’d have found out “He was thinking of quitting in 2019 but decided on one more year and then the pandemic hit and gave him the break he needed”
