With recruiting being slow right now, this is a thread to discuss the guys we already have and their development, position battles, mock depth charts, and whatever other random shit that comes up.
Something I’m excited about is the two biggest players on the team receiving some praise recently.
MJ Ale: OG 6’6 350 lbs. Huff said they’re hoping to see him come out on fire in Fall camp. Levi O said Jax Kirkland is the toughest guy he’s gone against at the college level and MJ Ale is the next guy to look out for. He basically said “MJ’s got next” so look for him to start Fall camp running with the one’s at one of the Guard spots. I must say, I’m pleasantly surprised by this. I remember my first post on HH was a negative reaction to UW offering him because he look so slow and stiff in high school. Obviously the kid works his ass off and the strength and conditioning program has done him wonders and he’s not only transformed his body, but also has improved his athleticism. I’m glad to have been wrong about him. I’m now imagining a Guard tandem of Ale and Bainivalu along with Kirkland and Curne at Tackle and it’s mouth watering. Dare I say Bama of the West? Damn, Newton, Davis, Sunday, and whoever we get in the 2021 class are going to have fun running behind these dudes the next couple years.
Sama Paama: DT 6’4 348 lbs. Malloe said he’s a beast and was impressive playing against the one’s last season while on scout team. Something that surprised me was that he noted how smart of a player Sama is and how advanced he is with the mental side of the game. That’s huge for a young guy when it comes to getting on the field early. I don’t have high expectations for him this season because he’s still only a RS Freshman, but getting some quality reps out of him as a rotational guy would be a nice boost to what should already be the best D-line in the conference with the experienced guys we have returning.
