Summer recruiting board

– QB: Thank god for Sam Huard, the only non three star commit in the class. At this time, they are done for this position.

– RB: In the top two for Caleb and Hornbeak and I believe we will land one of them. In the top four for Cardwell but don’t think we land him. Expect to see more offers go out for the RB position. Will probably take two running backs if they can fit it in.

– WR: Troy committing to Oregon was a big blow. Junior and Tinae havn’t been feeling Washington for a little while and while we have gained ground for Emeka we still trail. Just offered Tsion Nunnally who we should be able to close over Washington State but who knows at this point. Expect more offers to go out for this position as well.

– TE: Have two commits in Jumper and Moore. They would like one more TE and they are hoping it’s Erik Olson but they trail for him. They just offered a new TE last week in Shield Taylor and depending on how Erik’s recruitment goes, I expect more offers to go out this summer/fall.

– OL: Have one commit in Robert Wyrsch and want to take 1-2 more OL. Hearing Owen Prentice is leaning towards Stanford and waiting to see if his application gets accepted before choosing a school. They are recruiting Josh Simmons but he wants to play DL which is an issue, we aren’t in his top group list right now. Expect more offers to go out.

– DL: Got two commits in Kuao Peihopa and Voi Tunuufi and want to take 1-2 more depending on who it is. Obviously the big target is JTT and they have made up ground for him but so have Oregon and USC. His recruitment will go until January/February so long way to go. Only other DL they are recruiting is Derek Wilkins who they trail for and Jacob Schuster who will take his time thanks to that dumb gray shirt offer.

– Buck: Got one commit in Heims and they would like to take one more if it’s the right guy. Only Buck’s they are recruiting right now is Velltray Jefferson who will take his time but we are in his top group and Logan Fano who Utah leads for. He’s still undecided mission wise right now so look out for that.

– LB: Got one commit in Latu and they are pretty much done. Still recruiting Wynden Ho’ohuli but they have fallen behind and I don’t see him coming here because of the lack of relationship with Bob.

– DB: Got two commits in Zakhari Spears and Dyson McCutcheon and they would like to take two more. Top uncommitted DB on the board is Jaylin Smith but he’s not really considering us. Recently offered Titus Mokiao-Atimalala who is favoring ND but will take some visits, in the top two for Placide Djungu-Sungu along with Duke. Also just offered Chance Tucker and Mitch Leigber and I expect more offers to go out for this position as well.

Overall thoughts: I warned you guys earlier in the year that recruiting looked awful and now your seeing it play out. Recruiting especially offensively is just a mess and it’s not going to get any better in the next two months. If I had to predict a class right now, it would be Sam Huard with a bunch of three stars because right now there is no 4/5 star that I would predict Washington to land, it’s that ugly. Only hope is that these guys can coach and they win some games so they can flip a few of these players but it’s going to be a tall task.

Looks like an 88 high 3 star not sure on the composite.

Maybe he is the type who can raise his stock to a 4 star by the end of his senior season

He is class of ‘22. Hasn’t even played his junior year yet. No surprise he doesn’t have a composite being out west and not having 7on7 this year. Going to need a junior season for Rivals to eval him.

I can see Nunley’s potential. He just needs a couple years working with Socha and he’ll be good.

Our TBS’ers (Coker, SubK, DDY) seem to like Nunley a lot.

I’m not super familiar with his level of competition last year, but 8 picks is always going to stand out to me.

Velltray Jefferson and Logan Fano are both going to Utah? WTF is Kwat doing? He only brought in one OLB last class and now it’s going to be the same thing two years in a row. They’re supposed to take two OLBs per class. If they want an elite pass rush, this is not the way to get there. And Jefferson will be a 1st-round pick UW either passed on or lost to fucking Utah when he should have been a layup given how under the radar he is. They have room for Caden Jumper but not one of those guys? That’s bullshit recruiting and will bite us in the ass down the line. You can’t win shit without a deep rotation of talented edge rushers. I don’t give a fuck about limited scholarships. You make room for those guys if you want to win.

Pete’s kryptonite was keeping poor recruiters and very poor roster management where they simply don’t take enough players at positions and do it consecutive years completely handicapping those spots when they are upperclassman b/c of numbers.

I just don’t get it. It’s not like they have to do Mensa Math when looking at the roster. They know how many guys at each spot they need at all times.

Maybe it didn’t matter over at Boise w/ the overall talent/on field coaching they had, but it matters here.

Kiatkowski is obviously not a great recruiter, but he makes up for it as a D-Coordinator. The problem is you can’t have two O recruiters at linebacker fire Greggory and get someone who can help Kiatkowski. On the defense we have one proven recruiter Malloe we have 4 0 or below O recruiters. With the talent at DB dropping significantly the last two recruiting classes the drop there is also coming. The fact Greggory & Kiatkowski can not recruit African Americans at a position that produces a lot of African American players speaks volumes. I know everyone saw Foskey this weekend with Notre Dame.

Washington DE commit Voi Tunuufi had another strong game for East HS including this TFL late 4Q.

Doesn’t matter. ALL DAWG. Both of them. The hometown team being as good as they’re going to be, plus the NFL development, plus the academics, plus already having more friends on the team than they do anywhere else is just too much to turn down in the end. There’s no reason to go anywhere else. If 3-star Joe Tryon can leave early from UW to the NFL after his RS Sophomore season after only having half a good season, there’s nothing JTT can do at Ohio State that he can’t do at UW. Coach K can coach. Ikaika Malloe can coach. The talent will be played at WR including McMillan and Odunze. Sirmon is going to throw bombs to those guys. Emeka will like what he see. Time is on UW’s side here. As soon as the Pac-12 voted to play, it was over for the other contenders.

I told you. Caleb Berry is a BALLER. It’s all about the big backs baby! Huge and obvious improvement from his Junior season. His vision and feet are looking really good and he’s gotten faster as well. With a mean stiff arm like that, he doesn’t need to be a burner. I’d rather watch a UW RB stiff arm guys in their motherfucking faces on his way to the end zone rather than just out-running them anyways. It sends a message. As long as he’s healthy, I don’t see this kid redshirting when he gets here. Easily a 4-star who should get a huge rankings boost. Him and Sunday running behind UW’s future O-lines is going to be TROUBLE. I wish the other 90% of our class was playing right now so people could see how good they are as well and stop bitching about how many “3-stars” are in this class.

To counter Oregon gotta land Emeka that would trump everything they got. But the chances we land him are basically zero. We got WR rated .97 (spiker and mcmilian) and plenty of other WR who are blue chippers.

Emeka hasn’t given any clues that he’s not coming to UW. He’s not a fool ..he clearly wants to play at school with a decent offense for WR.

We graduate Ty Jones, Jordan Chin next season and Jabez is the only other WR in this class. With Emeka there’s a quick path to the field and playing time.

A vertical passing game that’s aggressive will go along way towards keeping Emeka home.
