I’m a big fan of Newton but he runs with a punishing style, was injured half the season last year, and was injured in high school as well. McGrew is also very injury prone, often getting injured just in practice and not even in games. I heard he sat out the Oregon game last season with the flu or some bullshit like that. He’s not a fully committed football guy and knows he’s not playing in the NFL so he doesn’t seem to care about sitting out games due to minor shit he could play through. If one or both of those guys get injured we could be in trouble at RB very quickly. I like Cam Davis a lot but he hasn’t done shit yet. After him it’s nothing but true Freshman. Pleasant seemed to regress last season (fire KB).
Oklahoma RB Trey Sermon is entering the transfer portal and has ran for over 2076 yards on 339 carries, averaging 6.1 yards per carry, and scoring 22 rushing touchdowns for the Sooners in three seasons. He was injured last season with an ACL but is on track to be full go in June. He’s immediately eligible to play next season. Ohio State fans think they have him in the bag based on rumors which suggests some tampering there because he’s not officially in the portal yet but who knows if he’s made a decision yet.
Adding a veteran RB of his caliber would be a big boost to UW’s offense. Hell, even if they can’t get him they probably should add somebody through the portal even it’s just an average RB like Boobie Whitlow from Auburn who trucked Jojo McIntosh when UW played them a few years back. Not having a veteran RB who could either be the starter or put out any fires if/when injuries occur could be the difference between wins and losses.
