.If Sam Huard is who the scouts say he is, then he has an extremely high floor, is plenty polished and should be ready to go week 1.
Dylan Morris’s Arm talent is intriguing, but he was just a little bit too sporadic for me to get behind him OVER HUARD that is.
I’d get behind him if Huard wasn’t in the room but he is.
Huard brings Tua like talent to the table and I don’t want to waste a year of that.
No, this program needs to hit the ground running and get back to the Pac-12 title game with a chance to make the playoffs.
That’s not happening with a true Freshman QB who won’t be here for Spring ball. Morris is the guy.
Whatever talent Huard brings will only get better after a Redshirt year.
If Huard is actually better and Morris isn’t playing well, then yeah. I don’t think that’ll happen. We love to respect our players so Huard will only start once Morris is gone. Can’t hurt anyones feelings!
Just because Huard is mentally processing the game at a college level doesn’t mean that he’s physically ready to play college football. You look at some recruits and they look like 30 year old men. Sam looks like a pretty normal 17 year old to me, not a kid who is physically ready to get blindsided by Levi Onwuzerike.
If we don’t win the conference this year it won’t be because Morris isn’t good enough. Morris and the rest of the offense have more than enough talent to be a top 3 offense in the Pac 12. Combine that with what should be a top 3 defense and anything less than winning the conference is a huge let down regardless of who we have out there at QB.

Bingo. The other major question I have with Sam is his ability to get away from pressure. Whether CP, Lake, etc want to admit it or not, the game has went to needing a dual threat qb (or Bama/Ohio State/Clemson O line which we don’t have).
A year behind Morris allows Sam to see the game from the sidelines and see how to side step pressure, throw it away, scramble into the pocket, etc.
Additionally with the way recruiting has been going the last year, this team needs to win Yesterday to help stem the tide, and imo Morris with his experience and what I thought was mostly good decision making gives them that chance.

Unless you’ve got a terrible Qb situation it’s going to be very tough to take over from a quality Qb unless you’re a Heisman type player and Huard just hasn’t shown me that. If he had played against Texas, Florida or Cal competition, I might feel different.

Same… I’d really be surprised if he wasn’t, at least to start the season.
I think you guys are selling Morris short.
He can make throws on the run which has become a huge part of the modern cfb game.
Morris will be a much better player as he goes in to Spring Camp expecting to be QB1.
I’m hoping O’Brien pushes him hard. I want both QB to look good so we can RS Huard
