Pretty gross that they’ve already extended all coaches another year. Jen has tied her boat to a sinking ship.

Participant02/10/2021 at 6:54 pm #23328KB getting paid 440k a year through 2022 to recruit one three star away from Kansas State and Nebraska and not know how to rotate backs. Where do I sign up?

Participant02/10/2021 at 7:53 pm #23329This is what most fans forget though, how much these guys get paid to be terribly mediocre recruiters. Those that say “give em the benefit of the doubt” subscribe to the notion that underperforming employees ought to keep their jobs no matter what, no accountability because “I believe in the program.” It’s that Mariner fan mantra. You show up for the shiska-berries, win or lose. At least it was a good day at the ballpark. I hate those fans.

Good god, that is a frightening reality. Jesus what the hell is wrong with this program.

Participant02/11/2021 at 3:27 pm #23388The way this is setting up is that Lake will have early success with the talent he inherited but within 3 years we will be back to 7-8 win team unfortunatelly unlike Oregon we don’t take football serious and he will be the coach for at least 7-8 years. Oregon got rid of a coach who took them to a National Championship as soon as they lost to UW. The USC article referncing the terrible hire makes it clear that its an open secret that Greggory is a shit recruiter and developer of talent. Not to mention the constant hiring of interns the writing is on the wall.

Word from other coaches is they don’t expect Lake to be around longer than 3-4 years.

I don’t doubt it. The writing is on the wall. I don’t care about the average Husky fan but I’ve spoken to at least 5 friends that have been substantial Tyee donors for 15+ years and are all planning to pull at least some level of their donation in the next year. We all agreed, if you’re not visibly committed to winning then what the hell is the point.
Cohen has cemented herself in that role and has fooled herself into believing that this staff can get it done. It’ll take a colossal collapse for her to get ousted and I’m not even sure that’d be the case.
I think you’re right that he’ll have some level of success (in a similar fashion to Hopkins with Romar’s recruits), Cohen will likely extend him to some outrageous sum and the reality of these shit recruiting classes will come to fruition.

Participant02/11/2021 at 5:25 pm #23393I definetly see a Hopkins situation forming if Lake is not here in 3-4 years it will be because he’s fired unless 2022 recruiting explodes he has two years at this pace before it crumbles Lake is not dynamic enough in his concepts offensively or defensively he’s not a Kingsbury or Lincoln Riley, if he hasn’t noticed black coaches are not hot commodities in the NFL or College.

Many believe he is attempting to ride Peterson’s recruits to an NFL HC job. That’s the word amongst coaches at least

Participant02/11/2021 at 5:45 pm #23396Hahahahaha, OK.. I figured that. That’s funny over Bienemy, Leftwich, and a philosophy of RTDB maybe he hasn’t noticed that the NFL doesn’t RTDB.. I’m going to laugh all night about this. NFL doesn’t hire experienced qualified Black coaches. NFL doesn’t hire interns as head coaches. Starting to think Jimmy has a lot of Kanye in him.

Participant02/11/2021 at 5:57 pm #23397If that’s his plan, he’s off to a rough start. Between recruiting and hires to date, nothing speaks NFL caliber to me.
This is coming from a few Coaches within the conference.

Keymaster02/11/2021 at 8:18 pm #23399While I was first on the Jen Cohen sucks bandwagon, I don’t blame her, here.
This is Jimmy’s doing. This is what he wants.
He will get the blame if it fails.
The problem with the AD is they have no long-term vision for the brand or the program. They are happy to save money but if Jimmy wanted to hire an expensive staff, I think he would get it.
I think Jimmy will be in the NFL in 3-4 years one way or another.
If he goes 12-2 and 10-3 the next two years, is that good enough for someone to hire him to be an NFL head coach?

Participant02/12/2021 at 9:36 am #23401How many defensive minded head coaches are getting hired to be NFL head coaches? Not exactly the direction the league is moving. We are stuck with Lake until he gets fired.

Still gotta hold her somewhat responsible. Did she even consider another HC when Petersen bowed out? Nope. That is laziness. How do you not exhaust every avenue to get better? How do you not tinker every year? I hate that ‘stand pat’ mentality. Lake explains that continuity is key and I call bullshit. Dude is fuckin lazy and his commitment to loyalty will cost him.

Kingsbury sucks. Not a great example.
Winning here will not get him an NFL HC job. Two years wouldn’t cut it. Guys like Riley and Ryan Day have been doing it longer with dynamic schemes, to boot.
