The problem I see personally is the fact that we limit our offers to 95 per recruiting class and only offering texas west. What other good teams do is offer more kids around the country especially the higher rated guys.
The more you offer the more chances you can get a better class in. Coach Lake needs to expand and get it done to compete with the big boys.

I’m not sure more offers east of Texas is the answer. If the staff isn’t getting the majority of their targets out west, why would we think that they’d be able to get those in the east? Those recruits are going to be less familiar with UW as a brand and therefore require more work to sell on the program.
All in all, I think we need to button things up out west first. We have amazing talent in Washington for the foreseeable future. California always has tons of talent. We see at least a few good players out of Nevada and Utah every year. We’re trying to make some headway in Texas.
Treading into SEC territory is going to present all kinds of new difficulties that this staff hasn’t proven it can overcome in their own backyard.

The focus should be Washington and California with also Hawaii, Utah & Arizona. We have had success in Utah and Arizona recently.
@huskyfan you are talking about programs that recruit nationally. There are only a handful that can do that. Oregon has to do that because they don’t have in-state talent. They focus on California though.
We aren’t Ohio St or Alabama. We don’t have the national brand to be dicking around outside of the states I mentioned.
We can recruit in Texas see Levi and do well. For a team who went to 3 straight new year 6 bowl games we should
be nationally known at least somewhat.
Just me thinks its time to extend more offers nationally as it cant hurt.
I think the real problem is complacency and lack of effort.
KB will only go for 3 stars/low 4 stars who are easier to recruit because he just points to Gaskin as the only blue print that works when just last year Bijan Robinson has a high interest early in us. We have an extra connection for Sawchuck and it sounds like he’s giving up early…
What need I even say about Gregory..last year we had a huge in on Bothello and Herbig and he never even really reached out after just going for the low hanging, lesser fruit in McDonald. I’m not here to crap on our players, but I wanted Bothello badly. This cycle why would we ever stop recruiting Calvert and Ho’ohuli? I know numbers are tight, but with the LB core being our worst position group by far we needed one of them to go along with Latu.
Adams and Huff are what every coach on staff should strive to be as recruiters. If they can’t put in the energy to reach that, cut them loose.
Huff number one and Adams number two. That I can agree on. Always go for the throat on every possession and in recruiting and it will do wonders for you
There is no reason why we cannot match Oregon and other schools and be in the top 10 in recruiting every year.

Nevada and Colorado we should also be able to dominate. We got Rome from NV and Rosegarden from CO. Lots of talent in the 22 class from those states.

We offered 21 players in Texas for the 2021 class – over 1/5 of the total offers we sent. Texas received the second most offers after California. We received one commitment from a running back. Just because we had success in the state once doesn’t mean we can point to that and recruits will come flocking.

We will never be a bigger draw for Texas kids than, Texas, A&M, Oklahoma, any upper third SEC team, etc. It’s good for picking up guys when we miss on our top targets because high school football in Texas is a step above the west coast, but other than that it has very low return on investment. Texas kids don’t give a shit that we have been to good bowl games. We lost all of them. They think we are soft.

Yes, winning this year will be crucial.
We need to win and win repeatedly before we can start pulling recruits from across the country.
You ask why not us huskyfan? The answer is because UW is not “all in”. Upper campus is not. The AD is not. The coaching staff is not. The town is not. Until UW decides it is “in”, then recruiting anywhere except your historical areas is a pipedream.
