Might be unlikely but assuming every draft eligible player and senior returns. As well as landing JTT and Emeka we could have our most stacked team ever. I was curious to see what that lineup would look like.

Keymaster08/12/2020 at 6:51 pm #19334Sirmon rated higher than Burrow. McMillan rated higher than Ja’Marr. Hell Aaron Fuller rated higher than Justin Jefferson (lol).
This roster>the 2016 team. If we can’t speak about winning CFP’s, we’ll never believe in winning them. Believing comes before achieving #TheSecret https://t.co/YfYE8n4tv4 pic.twitter.com/nh8IVEqtDt

Participant08/12/2020 at 7:34 pm #19336I still want a spring season. Molden and Levi are gone for it, I get that. Great huskies.
Tryon hopefully stays for one more go though.
I don’t know, 8 and fucking 5 with a lot of these guys, as good as they’ve been.
I shit on the offense 100x more than the defense last year, but the defense wasn’t lockdown until after losing to Utah.
Maybe it’s best for Jimmy with a youth movement similar to Pete in 2015.

I don’t want a youth movement. This team is talented enough to earn a playoff spot right now regardless of the QB competition. Losing those veteran difference makers would mean another mediocre season coming up. I hope all of them band together and refuse to end their Husky careers as 8-5 losers. I think playing in the Spring is just bullshit lip service. I don’t think it’s going to happen. I’m talking about everybody staying to play the Fall of 2021 which I know is a lot to ask but would mean so much for the program. The offense now has a full year to learn Donovan’s playbook and figure out who the best guys are. If everybody stays, this team will make a statement the next time they strap up for a game.

You can’t say that when you haven’t seen the offense. Coordinators can sink offenses, ask Bush in 2018 and Pete in 2019.
We don’t even know if we can hit the broad side of a barn. As much as I hate Browning for 2017 he was decent in 2018 and hit his target when he needed to. That’s really underrated and has nothing to do with the star ranks of our current qb’s. 2017 spring game Sirmon was throwing it to me in the fucking stands.
With no COVID this team wins 9-10 games this year with a ton of close games coming down to field goals, I’m sorry but they lose to Oregon who has way more confidence right now, drop another game or two we hate to lose.
They could also completely underwhelm and only win 8 games.

Participant08/13/2020 at 12:08 am #19341Bullshit dude. This is the best team in the conference by far. Best defense in the conference. Best O-line in the conference. Top-2 WR corps in the conference. Top-3 RB corps in the conference. Most talented QB depth chart in the conference. UW would mop the field with Oregon if they played right now. Both teams are breaking in new QB’s but UW is better than them at every other position on the field and Jimmy is not Petersen. He’s going to play the fucking talent. Bush Hamdan had to try to call plays with the fucking midget brigade on the field at WR. Donovan won’t ever have to deal with shit like that at UW. And Dylan Morris does nothing but throw darts. If Sirmon beats him out it’s because he’s fucking good.
Oregon is lucky the season is over before it began. They can still ride their off season natty without getting exposed on the field for being a shell of themselves after losing the players they lost. And the team they had last season wasn’t even that good in the first place. We all know if UW had put the best talent on the field they would have blown them out last season. If UW was still playing the 10-game conference only schedule this Fall, they would go 10-0 or 9-1 at worst.
I’m sick of this team being underestimated by their own fan base. They’re loaded. The QB just has to not be a total idiot who runs backwards and throws interceptions to defensive lineman and they’ll be favored to beat any Pac-12 team they play.

That’s my point: it’s possible the QB is a total idiot who runs backwards and throws interceptions. He could be really good/developed but the coaching and personnel decisions tell me we don’t have a good quarterback and we’re going to have to try and run down hill and manufacture first downs as opposed to putting up points.
To progress the program forward we have to start putting up points while maintaining a top tier defense.

I think we have multiple good QB’s on the roster. Taking Thompson was just insurance. We’ve had a little shit stain QB jump in the portal immediately after losing the QB competition in Fall camp before. They needed to bring in a guy in case that happens again so no matter what, we have a back up QB who’s not a true Freshman and won’t shit himself if the starter breaks his leg and he’s got to win a game for us.

They won’t be favored (nor should they) at SC/Oregon.
Cal/Utah will be a pick-em on the road and until Jimmy proves otherwise Cal has our number, and after 2019 Utah feels like they have gotten over the hump so we will see.The road games, plus new HC/OC/QB/essentially offense plus questions at ILB does not make them the favorites in the conference.

Participant08/14/2020 at 8:53 pm #19375UW is better than all of them. Oregon isn’t even close after losing the guys they lost. They don’t have enough quality talent or depth in the trenches. USC is the only team that should be competitive with UW. UW will blow out Cal and Utah the next time they play them. Justin Wilcox worked for Petersen at Boise and knew his offense inside and out. That’s the only reason they’ve been able to get lucky and beat UW. They had a cheat code. That’s no longer an issue with UW having a new offense. Utah lost way too many guys and will drop back down to 3rd in the South. Whenever the season comes around, it will be UW and USC as the clear top-two teams and then everybody else.

Oregon dropping off a bit and UW competing w SC isn’t an unreasonable take.
UW in 2017 everyone said they’d own and they dropped off enough.
60-65% chance it happens to them. Pac 12 is competetive after all.
SC will be good but my God, they underwhelm so much under Helton.
The bottom line is in the spring (really think we’re having a truncated spring season) a good defense and running the ball and limiting turnovers could get it done.
Unless we have a Cyler Miles type of QB play.
