I have a mom and two sisters, both my sisters played basketball growing up, and my understanding of the way women interact in “team” settings comes from them. Anybody with a working mom or wife knows that when they come home from work they often say “you won’t believe what this bitch did at work today…” The “mean girl” bullying that happens among girls in high school never stops and carries over into the workplace. My mom has had to quit her job because she was bullied so bad by a clique of bitches at work. Men don’t have to deal with the drama and stress women do because we just don’t act the way women act. If we did, there would be a fist fight at work everyday. Men and women are different and behave differently. That’s not sexist, that’s a fact. So yeah, a teen girl making a college decision might think a male coach equals less drama and would be a better fit for her personality and that seems to have been playing out in women’s college basketball for years with Geno Auriemma dominating, Oregon’s success, and UW’s former success under Neighbors. Sure, some will play for female coaches at Baylor and South Carolina or wherever because they want to win and those programs are winners but almost all of them wanted to play for Geno at UConn but didn’t make the cut.
I love the gays. I have no beef with the gays. It’s not homophobic to point out the differences between more masculine, stud lesbians and more feminine straight women. They are different types of people. Ask a female baller who her favorite player was growing up and she’ll most likely tell you Lebron or Kobe. The basketball lesbos look up to male ballers more than the female ballers growing up because they are typically more masculine, so it makes sense a lot of them would rather be coached by a man.
