Participant05/05/2021 at 2:58 pm #24486Just listened. Loved it. A couple thoughts:
Positives
– good insight into the program and keen observationsNegatives
– save the big picture stuff (Puka transferring, husky Stadium not being full) toward the end. I was waiting for position-by-position analysis, but some position groups were barely covered.
– Very little mention (if any) of Tuli, Taki, Bandes, Tuitele, Voi, etc. hardly any mention of the safety/DB position battles. Why is our backup center such a shitty shotgun snapper? But still, it was great. Enjoyed it.
Thanks

Participant05/05/2021 at 4:08 pm #24488Pod was great definetly do not share your optimism about the Offense, Dylan Morris is a game manager thus he will feed the tight ends and Lake likes that we will lose a game because of playing it too close to the vest. I was encouraged Cornell saw good signs because he is usually the counterbalance to your Dooging. In all I agree it’s Spring but the offensive philosophy is scary conservative. Bynum admitting his frustration and expecting only 3-4 catches per game as a receiver or QB I would not chose UW currently.

Participant05/05/2021 at 4:24 pm #24489Completely agree with the comment the wide receivers would be reluctant to come to UW. Hard to blame Emeka Egbuka right now. We have a coach that wears a “run the damn ball” hat, and a quarterback that cannot throw a deep ball.
Also agree with the podcast thoughts on the Tv commentators for the spring game. It’s like they were sitting in their underwear and tickling each other and giggling.

It flows better if we do it naturally then try to go topic by topic.
I think Tuli & Taki should be a formidable tandem.
I was told they both were ready to go after last winter but then gained weight during quarantine. A lot of lineman in CFB were out of shape for last season as run defense in the Pac-12 was bad across the board.
I think Tuli & Taki are guys that can challenge for all-conference. Hopefully Tuitele and Bandes can take the next step.
I just wonder how much the Covid year was a wasted year of development for certain guys and if they are falling farther behind because of that.

Participant05/06/2021 at 10:26 pm #24498I dunno, I’ve listened to you guys and tsio since you both started, but I disagree with a lot of what you guys say.
This isn’t like when we had Sark and Oregon had Chip in 2010-13.
Our recruiting can always get better, but these vaunted Pete classes have had a lot of guy flame out. I’m wondering if Pete was putting an emphasis on the wrong stuff (clean kids, good grade, high stars) and Jimmy is better at this (kids who put football first) not to mention Jimmy is doing better in the portal than Pete and Mario.
We’ll see who’s right in the end. It’s bad for us that Oregon got that too 5 class, but the situation is still murky. We still had a better regular season than them, and he’ll, SC even who was a paper tiger that barely beat a historically bad Zona team.
Thanks for putting out thoughtful content though.

A big thanks to Washington head coach Jimmy Lake @CoachLakeUDUB for taking an hour plus to go over his @UW_Football team with me today! #PurpleReign pic.twitter.com/8dN7I9en1J
