Keymaster09/17/2020 at 12:12 pm #19619So disappointed we wont get to see what we should have seen in the 2020 defense.
The 2021 defense will be really good but the 20 defense might have been best since 1991.

Participant09/17/2020 at 4:12 pm #19620Some people think Kirkland.
Seems about right, B1G announced they are playing and both Shaun Wade and Wyatt Davis (OSU) returned to their team.
Unfortunately, I doubt a decision to play in October/Nov would have same effect on Levi. (I believe Tryon hired an agent)

Participant09/17/2020 at 4:42 pm #19621I’m thankful for all of his hard work and leadership as a Husky and I wish him the best in the NFL but I do not respect his decision. What was the point of any of these guys coming back for the 2020 season if all it takes is a three month delay to the season for them to bounce? Joe and Levi leave UW as 8-5 losers and did nothing to leave a legacy as Huskies and definitely didn’t leave the program better than they found it. This is a really difficult time for the program right now not only financially but also with a new and unproven head coach. It would have been nice to see these guys band together and refuse to leave the program like this. Both could have been Husky legends if they had stayed.
I understand the pull of NFL money but that 2016 Alabama defense UW faced in the playoffs was one of the best defenses in college football history and they had a bunch of guys on that defense who could have left early for the NFL the year before. Yeah, I’m sure they each got paid for staying in college another year, but still.
At some point, we need our best players to commit themselves to elevating this program to a national championship caliber level and refusing to leave early for the NFL without accomplishing that goal. They have to unite together and make a commitment to raising the standard and perception of their program and leaving that legacy. We’ve seen other high profile players at schools like Alabama and Clemson do it and they almost always raise their draft stock in the process. Hell, even Justin Herbert staying at Oregon for his Senior season had a massive impact on Oregon’s momentum as a program and he wasn’t even a great college QB. I’m looking forward to seeing who those guys are going to be for UW. Next man up!

Participant09/17/2020 at 4:47 pm #19622Yeah, UW is basically infected with bitch culture.
Eason, Tryon, Levi…All leaving with nothing on their resumes.
The kids we have around have no desire to win in college at UW.
Honestly, the team has played lazy and entitled for the last three years.
Fuck all of them. WIN NOW.

And you can throw Hunter Bryant and Salvon Ahmed on the bitch pile as well. They did nothing at UW. Let these bitches walk so the guys who are serious about elevating the program can get their opportunity to shine. Fucking sick of this bullshit. The one-and-done culture of the basketball team has infected the football program. We have way too many guys leaving early before they do jack shit. Levi is the only one who deserves to leave early and he still should have stayed and raised his draft stock to top-15 overall level like Danny Shelton and Vita Vea did.

Keymaster09/17/2020 at 6:25 pm #19624Harsh comments guys.
Ahmed and Tryon are kind of reaches. Leaving too early. Levi and Eason were already 4 year guys.
Recruiting becomes all the more important when you develop as many NFL guys as we do. They need to be replaced or you slip.
It is frustrating because we’ve been hit harder than we should be, with early departures and some of these guys were not high draft picks. Gaines, McGary and Gaskin returned for 2018 and they should have. If most of our guys returned for 2020 we’d have been a top 12 preseason team.

Participant09/17/2020 at 6:25 pm #19625To be fair most of those guys were part of a rose bowl run.
The other two contenders have lost guys too. It’s a reset year for every team but… Cal? UCLA? Maybe ASU?
Really hope we get that halloween start.
It’s going to be P12 After Dark for every game, every week.

Participant09/17/2020 at 8:13 pm #19626You guys clowning Levi and Tryon and Hunter and Salvon is bush league. You try growing up in the situations they were in and turn down the prospect of millions of dollars while playing for free. Just stop it. Be happy for them and their families, and the once in a life time opportunity to earn generational wealth.

Rapp-ass bowl game dropouts, 6th round early entry practice squad dudes make me sick.UW football exists to make people like me happy, by winning the god damn games. It doesn’t exist to make every player’s family rich.

Participant09/17/2020 at 9:00 pm #19628You would think if our culture and team/family vibes were THAT strong these guys would want to stick around and play with their teammates for one more year while trying to win a championship. Ohio state big names are all trying to get back on the team after big10 returned… lots of example of uw guys bouncing out prematurely for nfl…. maybe our culture is not as great as we think
………… weaver was right.

Participant09/18/2020 at 2:33 am #19629I can understand the frustration, but remember, Elijah did come back and surprise everyone. He is the one that shouldve declared a month ago.
I agree Levi and Tryon should stay and improve their draft stock. The legacy of a national contending program is real, but the PAC12 ensured that will not happen. What would they stay for, a 6-0 or 5-1 season that would have absolutely zero national validation? Even if eligibility were extended, they wouldnt stay for a 21′ year, that is for damn sure.
Its interesting, while I am 95% sure EM leaves, his comments on Levi’s twitter announcement were “Always got my brothers back, Happy for you, family.” Could an announcement in a timely manner to start say Halloween keep EM around???

None of them come from the hood. Jesus Christ, not every black person comes from the hood. Kirkland, Renton, and Bellevue are not exactly the South side of Los Angeles. Hunter Bryant went to private school for fuck sake. So don’t give that BS. Some of them probably had it better than I did growing up.
None of them would have “turned down millions” for staying at UW another year. Every single one of them would have raised their draft stock and made more money. For instance, Joe Tryon will be lucky to get drafted in the 2nd round just based on his potential. The total value of a 2nd-round contract ranges from 5 to 7 million. If Joe had stayed and put up the big numbers we were expecting, he could have secured himself as a 1st-rounder or possibly even a top-15 overall draft pick. Getting drafted 15th overall earns you a contract with a total value of 14.6 million. That’s 2-3 times more money for simply staying in school for two more quarters and playing a shortened football season.
These guys are making stupid decisions to leave early and at the same time, hurting the program that developed them. They don’t care enough about elevating the program. We need guys who give a fuck. We need winners. If you’re satisfied leaving UW early to be a mid-round draft pick or possibly not even drafted after an 8-5 season, I don’t want you to be recruited here in the first place.
