Does Lake think about these things before he says them? I’m not saying the football coach needs to consider everyone’s feelings before he opens his mouth. This is big boy football. But is some of this stuff really necessary? Like identifying your “favorite position group?”
The big boys are the hardest position group to recruit because they have rare body types. I don’t see how showing them some love is a bad thing. I think you’re nit-picking right now and bitching just to bitch.

Team, Unit, Me. Any player that puts himself above the team is not a player we want. Winning is all that matters. When you win a lot of games, everybody has their moments to shine and all the individual stuff takes care of itself. Any players who don’t like it can walk. They’ll just be replaced by better players anyways.

Morris started b/c the grad transfer got hurt last year, and by multiple accounts as spring goes on O’Brian is walking Dylan down and if he wasn’t the incumbent it might be up for grabs (and still could be).

I’ve been on the O’Brien train from Day 1. It’s hard to argue with 6’5 240lbs with a good arm.
Walking down Morris is the perfect way to word it. POB has been on campus what just over 3 months. He’s not even fully comfortable with the offense and personnel yet and he’s essentially even with Morris already??
I see this playing out in fall like this.
POB settles in gets comfortable with the playbook. He and Morris are close but Morris’ Achilles heel is his accuracy beyond 20 yards and experience checking into the right play given defensive formations.

What is Jimmy supposed to do given the circumstances of the last year? UW coaches don’t recruit the same as Oregon. Pete was never going to pull in Oregon classes.
Jimmy’s only blemish so far is the loss to Stanford missing 20 players.
O’Brian is not walking down Morris. Yes, O’Brian is taking some snaps with the 1s, but the most important part is Morris has only taken snaps with the 1s, never the 2s.
So between who was giving the message, and what the message was (which imo is mostly the same amongst all P5 coaches more or less) I don’t see why Pete couldn’t pull classes like Mario has at Oregon.

I also think the could be loss to Oregon State, and the should be loss to Utah (thanks again Kyle W for deciding to throw it at all the 2nd half) along with the apparent miss (in general) and specifically in state kids for the 2020 class would be blemishes but the 4 game sample size tempers that.

We’ll see if Oregon’s 2021 class does what the BDTW guys think they will. We know that their coaches drop games to schools who can’t pull in anyone.
The Pac 12 is extremely hard to win and no one can monopolize it and coast year in and year out like in the SEC and ACC.
You need players with heart go along with talent like Gaskin, Mariota, the duck kid who stripped Wisconsin in the rose bowl, etc.
