Here is a really good article that dissected Donovan’s offense.

The talent he had to work with at Vanderbilt and Penn State was pretty limited compared to UW. What he leaned on at those schools might not actually be what he WANTS to do but what he HAD to do to try to move the ball. We also don’t know what he picked up during his time in the NFL and added to his playbook. I think UW’s offensive personnel matches what he wants to do perfectly so if he can’t make it work here, he can’t make it work anywhere. I think it’s gonna work because if DDY hates a hire, the guy ends up killing it. He loved the Bush OC hire and hated the Adams and Huff hires. Thanks Dennis for setting us up for success by hating the Donovan hire. Love you man.

Participant06/18/2020 at 1:30 am #17430I love the article great deep dive into the offense. It’s encouraging Emeka talked about Donovan is preaching to him that there will be more air raid than before. I did get the impression that Donovan prefers a more mobile QB which fits Morris more than Sirmon. But I’m happy the players are back. I just one the player who can get it done.

Dylan Morris should be pretty excited about his opportunity. He’s in the mold of what JD likes.

This could come back to haunt me but with Thomson I think it’s between Thomson and Sirmon now. Morris in the Pete era possibly be more in the running. Just think Sirmon has the upside and Thomson if you want the steady more consistent guy could be it. Plus he’s a runner too.

Participant06/26/2020 at 9:58 pm #17686I think it’s Thomson too because he had other options in the Pac 12.
I know people hate that Costello didn’t come to UW but it’s ridiculous from his perspective to go to UW or Oregon or SC. It’s not like he hates Shaw and his legacy at Stanford.
With the talent we have across the board Thomson is an absolute wildcard. He played at the bottom of big sky last year and made the playoffs. He could be the missing piece. We haven’t had a QB that can run in awhile.

With our defense I’m fine with Thomson as the QB. Ideally, if we are the big time program then Sirmon secures this job. Unlike last year though, had Haener won the job I would have thought the season was over. I do think if Thomson wins the job given his experience, our defense and his running ability we can still win the conference.
