He’s added two more pasty ass white SS coaches.

According to DDY & SubK, some indications point to us trying to recruit more nationally, rather than concentrating significantly on SoCal.

The hope was Jimmy would make us more of a fast strategy program. He’d hire Gerald Alexander and then you’d have 3-4 coaches who could really relate to inner city, FS kids from Cali. Now we only have two (Harris & Adams).

I just hope he knows what he’s doing and what is immediately on the line with the 21 class.

Plus, there’s no way you can slice it…this staff is worse than last year. You have a hole and head coach and you could have filled it with Gerald on D & two big time hires on offense. We didn’t.

Look, we are going to be loaded particularly in 21 & 22. That’s the positive. Stanford did have a hell of a run. You can still be great with whites & poly’s. But I don’t see how these hires or this recruiting strategy is going to make us better.

Stanford does love punting.

We punted these hires.

Cato makes sense because the majority of TE we recruit are white guys.
Donovan is going to be fine. If we see the best players take the field
and Jimmy plays to win then we’re going to be fine.

Last season was an abomination. Everyone knew that Puka didn’t suck. We new
that Bynum didn’t suck. Only favoritism would have Baccellia and Fuller playing
so many snaps over more gifted but younger WR.

Elite kids go to schools knowing they have to compete and they expect to earn their time
through play not through seniority. If they wanted that they’d get a government job.

This is Jimmy’s team. There are no excuses. If we see Beta ball that’s a short career at play.

Can we keep race out of this. Ken Wilson is a white LB coach and he landed Flowe out of LA. There are plenty of reasons to criticize these hires but reface isn’t one of them.

Why can’t UW do both? We can still recruit LA kids, it’s just most of them will be at the DB, RB, or WR positions which is what you want anyways. LA kids give you the speed you need at skill positions. We won’t get too many LA D-lineman or linebackers but as long as we dominate recruiting poly’s at those front seven positions, it doesn’t matter. Most O-line and TE talent out West is white or poly kids so we’re good there. QB’s of all backgrounds are attracted to playing with elite offensive talent which UW has now and will continue to have even more so after the next couple of recruiting classes. We should recruit more nationally because there are some really good players around the nation that would consider coming here if they were actually offered and shown real interest.

I don’t think you understand what Stanford would have been during the Harbaugh era and the early Shaw years had they been able to recruit at the level UW is recruiting. Stanford couldn’t bring in the WR, DB, D-line, and LB talent UW is bringing in. Stanford plus guys on offense like Jalen McMillan and Rome Odunze and Puka Nacua and guys on defense like Sama Paama, Savell Smalls, Daniel Heimuli, and Trent McDuffie would have been contending for a national title every year. If UW can be what Stanford was in their prime plus a bunch of elite talent that Stanford could never accept academically, UW can absolutely win a national championship.

At the end of the day the team that’s more talented and more physical almost always wins. Scheme doesn’t matter as much as the talent on the field and whether or not they’re physical. With the direction Jimmy wants to take things, UW will be very talented and physical every year.

You are correct, it’s not literally about a coaches race that matters when it comes to recruiting. It’s about being able to connect to recruits culturally. It’s just that race and culture are so often correlated.

If the TE coach and OC can elevate our recruiting, then great.

Call me skeptical. How are guys from Vanderbilt going to relate to blue chip recruits?

I’m worried they are going to get blown out in recruiting.

The 2021 class is a generational opportunity.

Malloe is poly and connected really well with poly’s.

Adams is fast strategy and has a strong track record. Cooper Kupp raves about him.
