I like Nunley. He’s physical.

Participant07/10/2020 at 9:41 am #18418I like the kid but this is not even a tertiary offer. He was way down the board. What is up with this secondary staff? Is it salesmanship? I’m not impressed at all and Harris doesn’t seem to have much in the way of recruiting chops. This is a disappointing development. Given our recent history, elite CBS should look at what we’ve put in the league and also look at a guy like McDuffie last year and be chomping at the bit to join this squad. It shouldn’t be hard to sell especially when one of the best secondary coaches is now your HC. I’m bewildered.

Participant07/10/2020 at 9:43 am #18420I like him, but I don’t like him more than Tucker and I wouldn’t be pleased to see UW get their asses kicked by Notre Dame for two DB’s they want in the same cycle. This is only acceptable if they’re getting Tucker as well and bumping Spears back to safety because he’s such a big and physical kid.

Nunley is going to be a safety. I think Leigber is going to Stanford and Titus is going to ND so we’re taking this kid.

07/10/2020 at 9:48 am #18422He seems to be climbing in popularity lately. After UW’s offer not long ago, Utah jumped on board.
Not sure if that’s because they’re also on to their third or fourth options, but hey, at least he has another P5 offer.

At least we can out recruit Kansas.

We’ve done well when we’ve beaten the Utes for secondary players (Sidney Jones)

1) They’ve never had to be great recruiters because they thought they were great coaches
2) Jimmy can’t hire a staff of great recruiters because he doesn’t have the connections.

Don’t you think he’s a little skinny to play safety? Will Harris might want to update his resume. I’m not impressed right now. I hope this has nothing to do with Tucker or Leigbor not coming here. Maybe they take as many as five DBs this class?

He says his UW and Utah offers are both as a Safety

Participant07/10/2020 at 8:05 pm #18462Yeah that’s not going to cut it around here. I have no doubt he could be a good cover safety in college but we need dudes with some thickness on them that can tackle running backs that are 210+. I want Leigber for that reason. Losing to Stanford for a DB recruit is unnacceptable. A DB education at Washington is worth more money in the NFL than a Stanford degree is in life after football. Will Harris needs to close some kids that aren’t fucking lay ups.

Participant07/11/2020 at 12:09 pm #18480Been most disappointed with Will Harris and his recruiting. He’s been on the staff for three years and this is a deep year for DB’s on the west coast unlike last year. Thought he would be better.

What happened to Titus man? It seemed like dude was over the moon with his offer. Now, he is willing to subject his family to flights to South Bend (not sure even how you do that) or Lincoln, NE. He has friends on the team. We “backing off” him like we did Wynden? Just seems crazy

Someone being excited about an offer usually means nothing.

Participant07/11/2020 at 2:32 pm #18485Looks like it’s a matter of time before nunely commits. Definitely disappointing how far down the db board we are recruiting. Are we still even trying to make contact with all the original top targets who committed to other schools? For instance, Ortiz who we apparently “passed” is probably looking pretty good right about now. I’m hoping we are not just folding tent and taking these plan “E” commits because it’s the easy thing to do.

Taking Ortiz as well as McCutcheon is a little redundant. If they’re going to continue to recruit the committed guys, make it the guys who won’t be playing nickel at the next level.

Ortiz is a bad example but you’re not wrong. They seem to have given up on flipping Denzel Burke, Jaylin Smith, or Phillip Riley way earlier than I would have liked them to.
