Curious what everyone’s thoughts are about the game last night, mostly through a UW lense.

My takeaways are:

-We are a LONG ways off. Those guys are so fucking big and fast. We are missing speed at linebacker and with out skill positions. I think our OL and DL will get somewhat close to that level in the next couple years, but even comparing our 2016 OL to LSU is just… wow.

-WE HAVE NO ENERGY. This has been discussed ad nauseam, but I have never seen a Petersen team be as fired up as those two teams were. It’s not like we haven’t played in top level games either. Playoff, Fiesta Bowl, Rose Bowl, 2 Pac-12 CCGs, plus Oregon USC etc. I will feel a lot better about these questionable hires if we come out fired up against Michigan.

-God DAMMIT I want to see UW play on that stage. Or even see us WIN one of these top games we play in. MAKE IT HAPPEN JIMMY.

2017? Are you kidding me dude you’re cherry picking shit from years ago. Ulofoshio, Sirmon, and Calvert all look the part. Others will catch up in the weight room in a year or two. Clemson’s starting ILB was listed at 6’0 235 but looked 5’11. His back up, Venables’ kid, is 6’1 230.

I made a mistake, that picture was actually from 2018. LAST YEAR. And until the new players start to produce, it doesn’t mean shit how big they are. If they do turn out that great, why did it take until year 5 for us to recruit them, and then follow that up with another Sark/Willingham level ILB class.

We started KYLER FUCKING MANU this year, sorry if I’m not ready to say our defense is on track to look like LSU and Clemson.

Well, it is on that track. You can bitch all you want and be as negative as you want but UW has some of the best defensive talent in the country on their roster. Talent that could have gone to Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, Notre Dame, etc. Why is it that you think less of them because they’re at UW instead of being at one of those other schools they could have easily gone too? Expectations should be high for this defense going forward because they are talented and the coaching staff that had four straight #1 defenses in the conference didn’t forget how to coach.
