Participant11/02/2020 at 2:21 pm #20314Where is the troll that everybody is so sure of? Outside of Pleasant the rest of the depth chart looks reasonable. A lot of people are pointing to Cook, but Cook was a 4 star recruit at Wide Receiver and Safety and most people thought he was a better safety this is his second year at the position I can easily see him taking over at the position.

Participant11/02/2020 at 2:32 pm #20315Haha, 4-way QB competition with them listed in alphabetical order based on their last names. I’m sure seeing Garbers on top freaked some people out.
Kamari Pleasant as the starting RB? Holy shit, perhaps Jimmy likes big backs even more than I do. That’s crazy. Maybe the new offense fits him perfectly and he took advantage of a clean slate with a new OC. I love Rich Newton and he looked really good last season soooo I don’t know how I feel about this. I guess it means we’re really deep at RB with guys who can get the job done if Newton is listed as our 3rd-string RB.
It also means people can stop worrying about the O-line. I don’t care what you “heard” from an anonymous “source”, if those guys are blocking well enough for Kamari Pleasant to get loose in practice and move from the bottom to the top of the depth chart, then they must be damn good.
Where did Alex Cook come from? I haven’t heard anything about him looking impressive on the defensive side of the ball since he’s been here. I just know he’s a physical player who’s not afraid to stick his nose in there in run support so maybe that’s what separated him from others at safety?
I also was expecting Rome in the two-deeps but I have no doubt he’s going to play a lot. Other true Freshman who look like they’re going to play right away are Jalen McMillan, Mark Redman, and Savell Smalls which we expected when they were recruited so I’m pleased to see that.
Everything else is what I expected. I’m hoping Puka Nacua and MJ Ale will be ready to go for the Cal game.

Participant11/02/2020 at 3:11 pm #20316I’m curious about Culp not being in the depth chart. He seemed to be in a lot of the videos that were posted on twitter. I wonder if he is a permanent H back. I really hope they can get him involved, he is great with the ball in his hands.

I agree, Culp looks much leaner and faster than last season. I hope he has a role in the offense that isn’t showing up on the depth chart whether it be at H-Back or replacing Hunter Bryant in a flex-TE role. Either way, he looks like a weapon they need to get the ball to.

11/02/2020 at 6:08 pm #20318The two deeps are def sneaky good idea vs cal who has no idea what we will run on offense nor the players who will be playing.
Cal roster is close to what WSU puts out. We can win this.

Cal has a better roster than WSU and it isn’t close.
They are well coached and experienced but not explosive.
I’m guessing they are a top 30 team when Garbers is healthy.

Better than WSU for sure but they are still mid tier at absolute best.
I like Garbers and some of their players and coaches, but their Identity is defense and they lost a ton, including their leader/best player, and they are not capable of simply reloading there like UW has been doing.
Other than the UW losses which massively affect our perception of them, there’s just no way in my mind they’re better than last year or even close to as good.
You mentioned we couldn’t run the ball last year. If we can this year they are done and we bruise them by 11-15 pts, even with no explosive plays.
