It really did.
That Daniels/King type of leadership was really nonexistent from last year and we saw what happened. If we get some vocal leaders like that, we could see a big year. Those leaders also brought that swagger and excitement that each guy had from that team. It seemed as if Petersen really brought the whole team down last year

2016 was a good combination of guys with swagger/leadership (sarks recruits) and OKG’s (CP recruits). I hope JL recruits a blend like this moving forward. Last years team was brutal to watch. No fire, no energy. Honestly looked a lot like their head coach at times…

The Seahawks Coaches could hardly contain their amazement in how the Huskies didn’t use Dissly more.
I think Dissly had more receiving yards in his first two games in the NFL than he did his entire career at UW. I just hope Dissly can stay healthy in Seattle(Damn you Ivan!). He has all-pro written all over him already.
I think it’s hilarious that Baccelia played with him for 3 years and started two full seasons and never caught a single TD pass from Browning.
Do you all remember fall camp before the 2016 season? Kevin King was interviewed after a practice and was not happy, someone asked him why and he said he didn’t like the practice, guys weren’t all locked in and that he was going to fix that when he got back to the locker room. I remember Dennis sent that interview clip to me and was like “this is what we need from leaders.”
I feel like that has been missing big time since that year. We haven’t had vocal leaders like that.

I just remember the confidence and somewhat cockiness Daniels and King had at Pac-12 media day. We hadn’t established anything yet and Daniels was like oh yea we are going to be awesome. This defense and offense won’t be stopped. I remember a reporter asked King about playing nickel and he laughed and goes oh I’m on the outside this year. We have some dudes who can play nickel and nobody will score on us.
I was so fired up cause you could tell this wasn’t fake. The players actually believed we were going to be great!

I’d guess we had good senior leadership in 2018…Jake, Gaskin, Sample, McGary, Miller, BBK, Gaines, Johnson, Tevis.
I see that on defense this year with Levi, Molden, Keith Taylor.
Hopefully all the underclassmen on offense are sharing in Jackson Kirkland’s attitude. (I’m referencing some comments he made).

People forget…
The 2016 was one guard away from having a NC quality starting 22.
They were ahead of Stanford, a top 20 metrics team, 30-0 5 minutes after halftime. Thats the closest thing we’ve seen to 90-91 and it was damn close.
Of course we didn’t have NC-caliber depth.
