Any dawg fan who has been paying attention to the NFL knows that the UW DBs had a great year. I thought that they might have led the league in interceptions by any school, so I ran the numbers and I was correct! UW DBs led the NFL with 19 interceptions this year, and that’s with arguably their best secondary player (Budda) getting zero.
Washington: 19
Alabama: 18
Florida: 18
LSU: 17
Rutgers: 12
UVA: 12
This list only included corners and safeties.
This is a HUGE deal that we should be promoting the hell out of. Obviously this doesn’t fully capture the value a DB has, but it’s a great stat to show incoming recruits. For the DBs, obviously it shows how you can get developed into an NFL player. For the Linebackers, D-line, and ESPECIALLY the edge guys, it shows how much easier it will be to do your job when you have the best secondary in the country behind you.
I want to get this out into the twitter-sphere, and I can post a basic tweet about it, but I thought someone might be able to put it into a nice graphic. Imo, this is a really good opportunity to market how good our defense and DB development has been.
