Secondary — Trent McDuffie – Molden might end up with better stats but I think McDuffie is as good a cover corner as we’ve had since Petersen got to UW. Honestly, there are a few guys who you could make the case for here so this one was hard. Molden will make an impact in the run game and be around the ball a lot so he’ll get tons of fan fare(rightfully so). I don’t remember teams trying to throw at Keith Taylor much last year and I suspect they don’t try much this year either. That leaves McDuffie with plenty of opportunities to make plays in the pass game.
Linebackers — Edefuan Ulofoshio – Hard to say here because so few guys have had snaps. Lots of talent on paper. I like Ulofoshio because he’s a great sideline to sideline runner. The best sideline to sideline backer we’ve had since Pete got here was Corey Littleton and I think Ulofoshio is in the same mold of being able to chase guys down and make plays. He’ll be playing behind a great defensive line that will force running backs to bounce outside and try to string the play out horizontally.
Defensive Line/Buck — Laiatu Latu – Another hard one here as Tuli is going to be a beast but I think our scheme is going to put Latu in a better place to make plays than Tuli. I see Latu as being similar to Benning Potoae in his ability to set the edge consistently but I think Latu is more athletic and can rush the passer way better than Benning. Second year in the scheme should help as well.
