on the CCG:
“I was told late tonight, on the heels of what Tsunami said, UW had 7 new positives today. With that many and contact tracing, even if they had say 5-7 to skip out on Oregon, well that’s a lot with contract tracing.
I’m beginning to think they aren’t playing and Oregon will be Friday night. I believe there will be a push from the Pac-12 (finally) to have a final answer on this in the AM.
I’m betting it’s Oregon vs USC Friday in L.A.”
on Mario Cristobal:
“Sorry to start a new thread, but I figured the 800+ post had run its course.
I admit, coaching matters are hard. The amount of information that comes my way is astounding. People come from the hills to send me information. Which is great, but difficult at the same time.
It’s late and this will be it for me for tonight.
The latest I’m hearing, and it’s coming from several sources, is Mario is signing a contract (not tonight) to remain at Oregon. I believe he’s told a number of his coaching staff this very thing this evening.
A couple things to go with that. First off, I’ve had my misses in coaching searches, but since MC has come on board to Oregon, it’s been pretty good. Not perfect, but pretty dang good.
Secondly, the key to me is him telling assistants he is staying. Why? Because if he was going to Auburn, he’d want to take a number of his staff with him I believe and, well, lying to them wouldn’t help that cause.
I do believe, as I’ve maintained, he wants to be at Oregon. He likes it here. His family likes it here. His wife likes it here. He’s really built something here and is so close to seeing it take that next step. And Phil Knight wants him here at nearly any cost. (Within reason)
I also know MC will want this put to rest immediately. I can’t imagine we don’t hear something tomorrow from him and/or Oregon on the matter. He’s also expected to meet with media at noon and well, that could get awkward.
But keeping this recruiting class in tact and having his players focused on whatever game they play this weekend is a priority. He does not want this to be a distraction more than it already is.
I do believe tomorrow we will hear that Mario Cristobal will remain at Oregon under a new deal.”
