BYE before the Oregon game, no back to back road games. Color me shocked!

Other than the early bye that’s as favorable as a schedule as we can get with 5 conference road games.

Where we’ve been screwed in recent years is: 1) bye too early; and 2) multiple key opponents (i.e., oregon, usc, stanford) having bye weeks before they play us.

With the depth that we have this year being better than we have had probably since Don James was here, I think the bye is more valuable early in the year where they can take some time to evaluate how things have been and make adjustments. Super nice that it comes the week before Oregon too.

I will say though, the Friday home game is really annoying.

@MillennialDoog I agree. Love the Bye before Oregon so that we can continue to fine tune. I also like having Oregon State on the early side because typically they tend to peak later in the season after looking pretty ordinary in the beginning and middle.
No back to back road games. Phew.

So only one bye this year? Why did we two last year anyway? I generally would rather have the bye towards the middle or end of the year, but that’s small stuff.

The double bye was due to the late Thanksgiving. The CFB season goes from Labor Day weekend to Thanksgiving weekend. Typically that’s 13 weeks but last year it was 14 so everyone got two byes.

There were two buys this year because of how labor day and thanksgiving lined up. It’s a scheduling quirk that only happens every 7 years. I kind of like it and think the kids could probably use an extra week off every year.
