So basically, fuck old people! Good lord. While you are correct to be concerned about the economy (duh), everything else you said is just…bizarre. This virus doesn’t just affect people who are “already sick and dying”. Come on. People with NO underlying health issues have gotten very sick and some have died and they have NOT all been old.
Today the WSJ reported that “At one Queens hospital, several coronavirus patients under 40, including a few in their 20s, were on ventilators in the ICU. All were healthy before getting the virus, a doctor there said.” Of course older people are far more likely to pass away from this, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t fucking care and try to stop it.
Jesus dude, it sounds like you’re just pissed because sports have been put on hold. There’s more to life than fucking sports.
Not not at all. Don’t put words into my mouth. I said people should do everything they can to take REASONABLE precautions to prevent to spread of the virus, especially in terms of not spreading it to people that are most at-risk of dying from it. But shutting down the economy is far beyond being reasonable. We cannot allow this virus to cause an economic depression to try and save people that are already sick and dying. It’s not just about OUR economy here in the U.S. because with so much globalization, it’s really one world economy and any depression here is going to be a global depression. When there’s a global depression, people in third world countries that are right on the edge between survival and starvation will begin to starve and those people include young people and children. That’s shit that bleeding heart libtards don’t consider. It’s always just full steam ahead to save the dying old people, meanwhile unintentionally causing more human suffering than the virus itself will cause by throwing gasoline on a fire. When things like this occur you have to be logical and follow the philosophy of utilitarianism. Whatever is best for the majority of people is the moral thing to do and what’s best for the majority of people is to not allow a global economic depression to occur due to business shutdowns, a potential stock market crash, and a massive drop off in consumer spending.
