LMAO why is the Donovan hire a negative when the guy hasn’t even called a single game yet? Was Oregon hiring nobody Chip Kelly from New Hampshire a “debacle”? Why couldn’t they get anybody better than that? Maybe because the right hire isn’t always a name everybody is familiar with before the guy gets hired.
Massive difference. Chip was an unknown but an up and comer. Donovan is a retread who flamed out at the last OC gig he had and has been buried in a dead end role with a terrible franchise over the last four years. There’s no way to sugarcoat it, on paper this was an awful hire.
Both were guys neither fan base had heard of before. Of course it’s not the same exact situation because no two coaches in the country have the same exact experiences before getting a new job.
Saying it’s an awful hire before the guy has called a single game is the most retarded shit I’ve ever seen. Clemson hiring Alabama’s old WR coach to be their head coach was an “awful hire” too if that’s the case. I’ sure that looked terrible “on paper” too. Nobody knows shit about how the Donovan hire will turn out and there’s no such thing as bad hires before a coach does anything. You can’t have a negative from point zero. It’s illogical.
