Ohio State would be a great option if it wasn’t in Ohio. Just makes no sense to me why a kid from Washington would go there. You have to live in Ohio for four years and then after college you will never go back there again and you damn sure won’t live there. After your pro career, you’ll move back home or somewhere out West to be close to family and you will have no sense of community or local pride. Nobody out here will give a shit about what you did at fucking Ohio State. And it’s not like UW isn’t bound for the playoffs again within the next four years anyways. You can stay home, get that hometown love, family and community vibes, and still compete for a national title. If you stay home and bring UW a national title, you’re forever a legend in your home state. That would be a completely different and special feeling compared to helping Ohio State win another national title for the state of Ohio. Fuck Ohio.
Despite how shitty we know Ohio to be, high school football players have seen a ton of national media that has propped up Ohio State for their whole lives. While we are getting closer in talent, we have nowhere near the brand of a team like Ohio State.
We have no brand at all. The marketing department has been pushing the “The Greatest Setting” for years and it’s a fucking stupid campaign for a football team.
