This line of reasoning has very little validity when the team record has gotten progressively worse each of the last 4 years. Now you have to replace a proven head coach with a green horn and a oc who got run out of his last big time gig.
Throw in a brutal schedule and worry more about solidifying 8 and 5
That proven head coach was completely checked out. Didn’t play the best WRs until later in the season and didn’t play the best ILB until Utah game.
At worst this team will win 9 games this year.
The defense is going to be really good and give us a 9 win floor.
A lot of talent is going to make a much bigger impact than in the previous season.
I agree the defense has a chance to be really good this season. However, the offense could be even worse than last year and that’s my biggest concern. Eason, Hunter, Salvon, and 60% of the starting OL are gone. We’re also bringing in a retread OC that no one else wanted and will have a first time starter at QB. The game has changed and you can no longer dominate without a competent offense. I hope we surprise but given the track record of the offense I need to see some improvement before I doog out.
