Okay so you have done WAY more research into this obviously and I am not going to even kind of claim to be an offensive anything. But kind of off topic, my step dad and I have had the theory for awhile now that the reason our offense under Petersen no matter the OC has just been sh*t is because Petersen is an “offensive genius” (I disagree hence the quotes) and when it comes to games is because he trusts our def coaches and isn’t as into/feels he knows better he lets the def coaches do their thing. But he has always been really into his QB’s and the offensive side of the game.
Anyways, I think Petersen got too involved especially when the game was on the line or just 4th qtr in general and whether he just sucked at play calls or the while too many cooks in the kitchen theory (and yes add to that we haven’t had the best OC nor have we had a WR coach for more than a season so that doesn’t help either), but this is why I’m excited to finally have a coach that comes from the defensive side of the coaching tree.
If Jimmy can just find a good OC (and whoever else he decides to replace) and I know that’s a big if, but if he does, I feel like just the fact that he will allow the offense to run like the defense was (meaning letting the coaches you hired to do that job do it and only get really involved if shit hits the fan or they aren’t cutting it) will make a HUGE difference alone in the way our offense looks regardless of the very detailed schemes you have above. I also think we look our best when we play aggressively on offense (at least this season which was basically never). Petersen was so conservative and even more so when we most needed to be aggressive.
Again I apologize I’m not as informed as you technically, but I think Lake is going to run an aggressive offense, that may take some time to develop because he’s got a lot of guys that haven’t been getting the kinds of skill development they should have been, the kind Lake has been giving the defense. So if any of your offensive schemes scream aggressive style play and would be run by the most competitive human on earth, I’d put my money on it. Then again, who’s the OC gonna be.
Sorry, I know u were speaking about what offense will work best going forward and this is not on topic, but I just think the offense we end up running is going to be a mix of Jimmy’s aggressive nature and his ability to not only develop but also evaluate how the talent we have will work best. So to try to guess what style/type of offense we might run is a little premature. But I don’t mean that rude, at all! I’m also going to go over everything you wrote because you know you’re stuff and I need to learn so for that alone thank you and sorry if all I’ve done is waste your time… I’m new:-) Okay lame.
