Think Pete was tired but also think the way this year went sped up the process. I doubt he’s stepping away if we won the conference again or went 10-2 with two close losses to Oregon and Utah.
I don’t think he wanted to completely overhaul his baby which is his offense. The reality is like Chest pointed out was the problems this year were mostly on Pete. It was his offense which killed us, it was his inability to adapt and play the young talent on offense which killed us, it was his loyalty to seniors who had no business being out there that killed us.
Players obviously had tuned him out. Twice we saw a Chris Petersen team(at Stanford and at Colorado) flat out quit. I can’t remember a time a Chris Petersen team had ever quit on him. We saw it twice this year.
