I love the early off season. We go through this shit every year and still people panic about in-state kids having interest in other schools. Washington kids go to UW. It’s as simple as that. Even Gee Jr. would have been a Dawg had he been offered earlier. They will flirt with other schools, enjoy the attention and adoration they receive, and some will tease their interest in other schools on social media. But at the end of the day, they’re all going to UW if they have a committable offer.
Even when Savell Smalls publicly eliminated UW from consideration it didn’t matter. He was still going to UW. Really the only school that has been a threat to beat UW for in-state kids is the rare kid that goes to Stanford over UW because he’s going to play school. Oregon hasn’t beaten UW for an in-state kid since they got Calvin Throckmorton five years ago but that was just because Strausser took too long to offer him. Before that, do you have to go all the way back to Jonathon Stewart?
I’m not worried about any of these kids. If UW wants them, they’re going to UW.
I never want to be too confident in recruiting, but tough to argue with history. Thanks.
