I think we will have the number one defense in the league again next year, but Oregon will be very good. The OLB comparison is tough. Thibs is better at speed rushing than any of our guys are at any one thing, the dude is electric, but I think Tryon is probably more well rounded at this point. He was holding the edge down extremely well at the end of the year, and his bull rush has come along so well (watch the Boise tape) that it has allowed his speed rush to get more chances. They might have the second best OLB right now, but I see Tryon and Zion both passing Bowman by the end of this year, so I think we have better depth.
In fact, depth is probably the thing that sets this defense apart from other years. I can’t remember ever having so many guys with either elite talent or experience backing up our starters. It will help us a lot late in the season and also gives me less pause at playing a real spring game. (not that there weren’t injuries at the stupid spring practice events)
