Everyone keeps saying the defense is going to be “great.” I agree it will be better.
But “great?” The way the game is designed, most tackles in football are made by the inside linebackers. Who is going to be the “great” inside LBs for us?
Ulofoshio has flashed at times, but he is not consistently making plays in the holes that limit gains to 1 yrs instead of 4 or 5 yards.
Who else is there? Tafisi? Sirmon? Calvert? Heimuli?
Open to opposing views.
And Ngata is moving inside too. That’s a lot of talent and competition. Ulofoshio and Sirmon were just redshirt freshman and by the end of the season, they were playing like veterans racking up double digit tackle games and they’re only going to get better. UW’s last four games the defense gave up an average of 11 points per game. Sure, it was just against Oregon State, Colorado, WSU, and Boise State but that’s the level of competition most of the Pac-12 will be next season. It’s mostly shit competition. So yeah, Ulofoshio, Sirmon, Calvert, Tafisi, Ngata and whoever else plays will look great most of the season.
