Prediction:
Starters are Ty Jones, Bynum, and Rome (assuming Puka is still injured). Rome ends up our leading receiver. I think he has Reggie Williams level talent.
Damn, that’s high praise for Rome right there but you might be right. We haven’t had a true Freshman come in and run with the ones in practice like he is since Kasen Williams and Rome is way faster than Kasen was. Imagine what he’s going to become after two years in the wait room. He’s already 6’3 205. He’s going to be a monster. A talent like that can’t be wasted on the sidelines. He’s probably going to be an early-entry NFL guy so they need to get as much production out of him while he’s still here.
Ty Jones has surprised me. Just based on the tiny amount of video content we get to see, it looks like he’s balling out in practice and playing with a lot of confidence. I thought what he did in 2018 was as good as he was ever going to get but somehow, he’s gotten better after redshirting and barely playing last season. I’m pleased to see that and I’m glad I was wrong. Good for him and good for us.
Bynum is a stud. He’s not big but he’s strong and physical for his size and he makes tough catches and big plays. He reminds me of Jarvis Landry.
I have no inside knowledge but I suspect Puka will be fine and they’re just holding him back and trying to get him as healthy as possible for the Cal game.
